Are press-on nails safe during pregnancy?
Hello fellow Mom, mom-to-be, :)
I'm Sanja, Co-Founder of LÓA NAILS and I literally have started the brand during my first pregnancy. My baby girl Elena and LÓA were growing simultaneously for 9 months until she was born in June and the brand launched in August. ☺️
If you have only two minutes - from a mom to a mom - press-on nails are safe to use during pregnancy and after. Just be conscious you are choosing brands that share your values. If you have more than two minutes - let me tell you why LÓA was practically created with moms in mind.
As a first time mom, during my pregnancy I've became really conscious of the beauty products I was using, putting on my skin and nails therefore I must tell you that there was NO room for compromise when we created LÓA - i wanted to know exactly what kind of ingredients we are using in our final products, starting from the nails itself, nail glue, adhesive tabs and the packaging (nail tray and the box).
LÓA press on nails are, first of all, PETA certified 100% vegan and cruelty free, meaning that we never use animal-derived ingredients in the formulation of our products and we never test on animals.
Secondly, our artificial nails are made from PCR re-cycled (aka post consumer recycled) ABS plastic. I wanted to make sure that our manis will not only make you look good but feel good too - and that my baby girl Elena and her family grows up in a same beautiful world I did. Our nails are made from ABS a non-toxic thermoplastic polymer, safe to use in beauty applications. Same material as lego bricks.
Last but not least, LÓA pop on nails come with a non-toxic nail glue that will not harm you nor your baby during pregnacy. Once dried - it is perfectly safe. Did you know dentists use the same ingredients dental fixtures? The glue ingredients explained in kitchen language:
Cyanoacrylate: A medical-grade adhesive – our superglue that makes your manicure last.
Polymethyl Methacylate: Acrylic Glass – often used in medical devices and dentist applications known for quick bonding at room temperature.
BHA: Used widely in cosmetic industry due to its anti-inflammatory properties
Besides the regular nail glue, you might want to wear your nails with the adhesive tabs as those are super easy to apply and remove on demand.
